Things to Do
- Catch the Ferry to Padstow
Catch the ferry from Rock and explore the well-known quaint fishing town of Padstow. Ferries run every 20 minutes or so depending on the tide and offer a direct and novel travel route for guests staying here at The Point or in Rock or Polzeath. Passengers on the ferry can enjoy the gorgeous views of the Camel estuary as they weave their way through the sand banks towards Padstow before landing in the harbour or on the beach.
More information on the Ferry can be found here.
2. Jubilee Queen Boat Trips
For those who couldn’t get enough of the Ferry ride over to Padstow, seafarers can enjoy a longer trip aboard the Jubilee Queen which runs trips from the harbour at Padstow. Passengers can enjoy 2-hour trips exploring the Camel Estuary and the coastline beyond. With a well-stocked bar and food available onboard sit back, relax and simply enjoy the beautiful views before returning to Padstow. Full information here.
3. Rockpooling and Beach Cleaning with Polzeath Marine Conservation Group
Do your bit for the coastline whilst learning about the creatures that call the beach their home. Polzeath is fortunate to have its very Marine Conservation Group that leads groups on rockpooling tours and wildlife discussions. These fun and informative sessions are free and are great fun for all of the family. Those who are ultra-keen to do their bit can take part in organised beach cleans which help raise awareness of ocean plastic. Full details of sessions can be found on their facebook page here.
4. Ride the Camel Trail
The Camel Trail is an 18 mile largely traffic free, surfaced and virtually level multi use trail which provides access to the beautiful Cornish countryside along a disused railway line between Wenfordbridge, Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow.
The trail is suitable for the entire family and falls into three main sections:
- Padstow to Wadebridge– 5.5 Miles (8.8Km)
- Wadebridge to Bodmin (Boscarne)– 5.75 Miles (9.25Km)
- Bodmin to Wenfordbridge– 6.25 Miles (10.1 Km)
Bike hire is available from Padstow and Wadebridge. A map of the trail can be found here – here.
5. Take a Dip
Polzeath is famed for it’s surfing a beautiful beach. Older children wishing to learn to surf or stand-up paddleboard have the pick of a number of high quality surf schools offering tuition to all abilities:
Those looking for something a little different can join in the adrenaline fuelled coasteering scene and explore the coastline in a different way. Those wanting a more peaceful experience can enjoy a guided kayak tour and witness some of Cornwall’s most dramatic coastline
