Christmas & New Year in Cornwall – 2021

Winter is a truly wonderful time to come along and experience the beauty of Cornwall without the hustle and bustle of the summer crowds.

What could be more invigorating than a beach walk on a crisp morning to blow those cobwebs away? Why not treat yourself to an out of season break to recharge your batteries? Many of our properties have wood burners so you can curl up in front of the fire of an evening, relax and enjoy the comforting glow with a glass of something lovely after a day on the golf course.

If surfing is your thing, get out there and brave the Atlantic swell at one of our many, excellent surf beaches. Polzeath is a great place to start with conditions particularly renowned for beginners and improvers.

Tuition is available all year round should you need it.

There’s lots to see and do in the area to keep the whole family entertained in the run up to Christmas too.  We’ve put together a festive itinerary to help you get into the Christmas spirit during your stay!

The Eden Project at Christmas

Eden is a magical experience for all the family, especially at Christmas time. From the 3rd to the 24th of December, visitors can book a slot to meet Santa and his festive Elves, glide around the glittering ice rink or lose yourself in the colourfully lit, enchanting rainforest biomes and marvel at the illuminated waterfall.

There are bags of festive cheer in the twinkling Mediterranean Biome with big band music being played throughout December. You’ll find Eden at Bodelva, just outside St. Austell.

Useful Info: The post code to follow for sat navs is PL24 2SG. Parking is currently free.

Heligan Night Garden

The Lost Gardens of Heligan are once again hosting their enchanting lantern experience this Christmas from the 1st to the 23rd of December. Sturdy footwear and warm clothing is recommended. Experience the atmospherically lit flora and fauna of the lost gardens and breathtaking display of illuminated lanterns. Maybe book a Christmas Lunch in the beautiful Heligan Kitchen Conservatory and make a day of it?

Useful Info: Following your sat nav is not advisable in this case. Our Cornish lanes can be a little narrow even for the most experienced driver to navigate! Head to St. Austell then follow the brown Tourist signs in the general direction of Mevagissey.

Mousehole Christmas Lights

A little further afield but one not to miss! Since 1963, the harbour, cottages and quayside of the historic fishing village of Mousehole have been adorned with a spectacular display of quirky Christmas Lights throughout December. There are even lights on the boats out in the sea!

Come and witness this amazing, illuminated Cornish spectacle for yourself! Maybe grab a slice of star-gazey pie?!
